It is always rewarding when we work with groups on their first overseas adventure. This year Scone Junior Rugby Club from NSW’s Hunter Valley embarked on their first tour with an u/12 side travelling to the South Island of New Zealand. The boys were accompanied by a large supporter’s tour made up of almost 70 family members and travelled from Christchurch to Queenstown, via Timaru.
The boys went through undefeated with convincing wins against Shirley Rugby Club in Christchurch, The Harlequins in Timaru and Star Rugby in Invercargill. The group were overwhelmed with the reception they received from their host clubs. The families and players enjoyed mingling with the Kiwi families at the after-match functions, often ending well after the players went to bed!
Tour Manager, Angus Patterson had this to day about their experience:
“What an experience. From the first time I spoke to Steve there was never an issue. Our tour from the planning stages to the time we flew home was well organised with particular thought given to the age group we had touring. Steve had plenty of tips for us as this was the first time our club had undertaken such a task. Not only did Estilo organise our playing group we also had a supporter’s tour. If you are thinking of touring make sure you contact Estilo. Our club plans to tour in 2019 with another group of U12 and we will certainly be using Estilo for our next adventure!”
