Not afraid to step out of their comfort zone are the 17 students and staff from Stella Maris College in Manly. In addition to being the first touch football tour organised by Estilo, their November 2019 trip is also the first all-female sporting tour to Fiji.
Having undertaken numerous fundraising activities in the lead up to the tour, the Stella team travelled to Fiji armed with over 150kg in donations. Clothes, shoes, toiletries, first aid supplies and sporting equipment will be distributed and gratefully received at Adi Cakobau School, a girls boarding school in Sawani and at Balenabelo Village in the Nadroga province. Basing themselves in Suva, where touch football is rapidly growing in popularity, the Stella team, comprised of year 8 and 9 girls will train and play a series of games at the magnificent Albert Park. When not playing, they’ll enjoy a snorkeling tour on the Coral Coast, a day trip swimming at the Colo I Suva waterfall and of course some shopping. The Fijian locals will be hoping the Stella girls are blazing a trail for many more girls’ groups over the coming years.
